The 7018 rod is usually used for welding of steel constructions such as bridges, dams, thermal power plants, petrochemical plants, shipbuilding, high strength pipe-lines, pressure vessels, tanks, which are dynamically loaded and requirehigh mechanical properties. The weld metal has a very low hydrogen content and is resistant to aging.
The Magmaweld ESB52 produces tough and crack-free welded joints, also suite for welding steels having a carbon content of up to 0.6 % and rail joints. Good operating characteristic, also in root pass and positional welding. Very good gapbridging properties. Welds are of X-ray quality.
A 7018 welding electrode should to be dragged throughout the metal when welding. Along with dragging, a welder can weave it back and forth or oscillate it to feather it in on both sides.
