What is MIG Welding

MIG welding is an arc welding process that joins metals by heating them with an arc. MIG and flux cored welders provide benefits over other welding methods for both seasoned and new welders. The welding system generates an arc between the metallic and also a consumable electrode, called the mig welders cable. 

The operator concentrates on directing the MIG welder gun in the joint and appropriate movement. Many MIG welders may additionally flux cored weld.

MIG Welding is also referred to as Gas Metal Arc Welding. It is a frequently used high deposition rate welding process where the MIG wire is always fed from a spool. MIG is a semiautomatic welding procedure.

Externally supplied gas or gas mixtures provide shielding for mig welders. Common MIG welding is also referred to as short circuit transfer. Metal is deposited only when the wire actually touches the work. No metal is transferred across the arc.
